Jesus

I've been really convicted lately about just seeking Jesus... the person of Christ, longing for communion with Him. Jesus rebuked the Jews in John 5:39-40 saying, "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life." These words strike something in me. How often I search the Scriptures for wisdom, for tools for life. They are those things. But more importantly, they point to the Lord, who is the ultimate source of life. If we look for anything but Jesus in the Bible we are giving a great disservice to the Word. Because in it we see who Jesus is, we can hear and see the beckoning He offers us, we can know and experience the love that He is. This ought to be the aim of everything we do- to experience relationship with Jesus. When we read the Word, let us do it with the purpose of encountering Him. For in Him alone is life, and we will find that no where else, not even in the Scriptures. I want to run to Him and commune with Him in everything I do.

  1. "Jesus answered them...'Do not labor for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.' Then they said to him, 'What must we do, to be doing the works of God?' Jesus answered them, 'This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.'"

  2. Encouraging stuff, thank you.

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us." Amen.
