resources to fight stigma

Here are some resources to get you started on fighting the stigma that surrounds mental illness.  These are just what I could think of off the top of my head, so this list is far from exhaustive, but these are some of my favorites.

Websites:
To Write Love on Her Arms- TWLOHA is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.  TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. 
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 
Mental Health America 
National Alliance on Mental IllnessNAMI is the the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raise awareness and build a community for hope for all of those in need. 
American Foundation for Suicide PreventionAFSP is dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education, advocacy and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide. 
Suicide Awareness Voices of EducationThis site, along with our work, is based on the foundation and belief that suicide should no longer be considered a hidden or taboo topic and that through raising awareness and educating the public, we can SAVE lives.
