Suicide and Mental Illness in Idaho

One of the biggest reasons I have this blog is to try to increase awareness and understanding about the realities of mental illness.  I want to pass on more than just my experiences, my story, but also the bigger picture.  Today I read a blog post about some current mental health news.  My hope is that you will maybe dig deeper beyond the excerpt I share here.

The state of Idaho, on average, has a suicide rate that is almost 50 percent higher than the rest of the country, but there are people and organizations around the state working to address this issue. After completing research on those living with mental illness in the state, the people involved found that the personal voices tell a much bigger story than the statistics do.
From Mental Health News- October 31- please click the link and read more, and follow the links within the article.  I know it is time consuming, and I know there are a multitude of things well worth educating ourselves about.  And, I'm guessing if you are reading this there is some link in your life to mental illness.  So I'm unashamedly asking you to do what I ask my friends and family to do- try to understand this part of my/our reality more and more.
