the Cross
"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and my burden is light."
-Jesus, Matthew 11:28-30
There are numerous Scriptures about the Cross, so why did I choose this one? Because this one seems to tell most bluntly how we come to the Cross, and what we find there. We come tired, heavy-hearted, broken, bitter, confused. We release all of that, and take on His ways, His yoke. We receive rest, freedom, forgiveness, grace love. We trade in our ridiculously difficult yokes, and take on His. Meaning we leave our baggage at the Cross and take upon ourselves His heart.
For years I delayed such a practice- this whole idea of going to the Cross. I thought it was nothing more than Christian jargon, and then when I realized it was more than that, I ran away in fear. But just over two weeks ago I went for the first time, and now have worked to make it a part of my daily life. It has been powerful.
Go to the Cross. Release the crap of your life and receive the glorious mystery of His life.
