a prayer

Oh God, search me and know me. Reveal to me my innermost thoughts and attitudes, that I might come humble and honest before You, receiving all that comes from Your hand. Soften my heart that I might receive correction from you willingly. Open my spirit that I might receive healing in the deepest parts. Heighten my awareness that I might receive the forgiveness and grace that came at such a costly price. And give me tenderness and vulnerability that I might receive Your abundant, all-satisfying steadfast love. You alone are God and there is none other that I desire but You. Teach me Your ways and lead me in Your Truth, that I might be able to walk the narrow, good path which You have laid for me. Deal with me according to Your steadfast love, rather than my sin, that I might live forever with You, God. Reveal to me Your will for my life, that I might serve others and share with them Your glorious ways. Make my heart sensitive to the hurting, the oppressed, the broken-hearted, the bitter, the lost... those who You promise to be near to... make me willing to be near to them, too. All in all, Lord, I want to commune with You, become more like You. This is my heart's cry and all that I desire. Do whatever You need to in my life to make these things true. Your will is the source of my peace, and so today, once again, I give my life to You and beg of You to help me receive Your life. I love You, Lord. written Saturday, October 10, 2009
