God Moves in Mysterious Ways

The last couple days have added up to 15 hours of surgery in the brain of not-quite-3-month-old Lydia.  (See LG needs usUpdate on LGLG is a trooper for more info.)  The doctors have been very pleased with the success thus far, and are hoping that a few more hours tomorrow or Wednesday will finish things up, forever.  Continue to pray for them, and that they will get to experience more moments like the picture below soon.

The time since I got the call on Saturday afternoon to go get Anna and bring her to the hospital because Brandon was riding in an ambulance with Lydia has been intense (to say the least).  And yet in the midst of it all, God has shown His goodness in powerful ways.  As we prayed tonight after Lydia was out of surgery, this hymn ran through my mind.

God Moves in Mysterious Ways

God moves in a mysterious way,
His wonders to perform;
He plants his footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.

Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never failing skill,
He treasures up his bright designs,
And works his sovereign will.

Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take,
The clouds ye so much dread
are big with mercy, and shall break
In blessings on your head.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust him for his grace;
Behind a frowning providence,
He hides a smiling face.

His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour;
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower.

Blind unbelief is sure to err,
And scan his work in vain;
God is his own interpreter,
And he will make it plain.
